Low-THC cannabis has very low amounts of the psychoactive ingredient THC and does not usually produce the “high” commonly associated with cannabis.

Usually there is no to little wait. However, sometimes appointments can run late or the unusual will happen, and thus, the longest wait time patients have experienced in the past has been up to 25-30 minutes.

No. This is because we do not go through insurance when charging for the medical marijuana evaluations. Because specific medications (generic vs brand, etc) are covered by different insurances/go through insurance altogether, our policy is to have our physicians strictly focus on medical marijuana recommendations.

Be safe – never drive or operate machinery under the influence of cannabis. Keep your cannabis in a secure area of your vehicle, out of reach of the driver and passengers. Cannabis is not allowed to cross state lines.

To maintain an active medical marijuana use registry ID card, a patient and/or legal representative must annually submit a renewal application, along with the application fee and any required accompanying documents to the department forty-five (45) days prior to the card expiration date. Please see the instructions provided by the OMMU.

No. Florida law only allows licensed medical marijuana treatment centers to grow, process and dispense marijuana. The Department of Health will refer any business or individual suspected of violating state law to local law enforcement for investigation. It is important to remember that marijuana is illegal under federal law.

Requests to change the information on an ID card or to replace a lost or stolen card will require the cardholder to submit a Change, Replacement or Surrender Request Form to the Office of Medical Marijuana Use, along with a copy of his or her Florida driver’s license or identification card and a $15 replacement fee to the Department of Health. Patients are eligible to receive a certification for low-THC cannabis or medical marijuana if they suffer from the following conditions:

• Cancer

• Epilepsy

• Glaucoma

• HIV

• AIDS

• Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

• Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)

• Crohn's disease

• Parkinson's disease
  

• Multiple sclerosis (MS)

• Medical conditions of the same kind or class as or comparable to those above

• A terminal condition diagnosed by a physician other than the qualified physician issuing the physician certification
  

• Chronic nonmalignant pain caused by a qualifying medical condition or that originates from a qualifying medical condition and persists beyond the usual course of that qualifying medical condition

An object used, intended for use, or designed for use in preparing, storing, ingesting, inhaling, or otherwise introducing marijuana into the human body, and which is dispensed from a medical marijuana treatment center for medical use by a qualified patient.

A pregnant woman can use low-thc cannabis (CBD) only. They cannot use medical marijuana/products containing THC.

No. Physicians may only order low-THC cannabis or medical marijuana for patients diagnosed with one of the qualifying conditions or conditions of the same kind or class.

In a private space where smoking and/or vaping are allowed. Smoking cannabis in public spaces is prohibited by state and local laws. Sorry, but using cannabis products in or around Cannabis Doctors of Florida locations and medical cannabis dispensaries is prohibited.

We recommend storing your cannabis in a dark, dry and cool place to keep it fresh. For safety, always keep your cannabis in a locked and secure location in your home away from children and pets.

Due to COVID-19 Surgeon General Dr. Scott A. Rivkees signed Emergency Order 20-002, allowing EXISTING MMJ patients to temporarily renew their Medical Marijuana Use Registry identification card through telemedicine. Transfer patients (existing MMJ patients under another physician) and new patients still must be evaluation in person. The follow up visit can then be done via telemedicine (if this rule is still in effect).

Only licensed medical marijuana treatment centers (MMTCs) can sell medical marijuana. Medical marijuana may not be purchased from any location other than an approved MMTC. Medical marijuana treatment centers may only provide medical marijuana or a marijuana delivery device to a qualified patient or a qualified patient’s caregiver.
